At what age did your baby come to a sitting position by herself?
My 8 month old daughter sits perfectly, and as soon as I put her down on her back, she rolls over onto her belly. She’s not crawling yet, and can stand if holding hands (but has no balance at all). I was wondering around what age they can get into a sitting position by themselves, and how they do it (from laying on their back, or tummy, etc). I know every child is different, and she will get there in her own time, but I’m just wondering.

My daughter is 8 months old. She started doing that around 7 1/2 months. I was worried because at 7 months she wouldn’t even sit up for very long. She would throw herself backwards. But all of a sudden one day, she was sitting in her play pen after she had been on her back. She is just now crawling, too. Once she started getting to a seated position herself, she was more steady sitting. She crawled first at 7 months, and didn’t realize she did it. She didn’t get the hang of it until just a few days ago. Now she is crawling everywhere.
One day, your baby will just do it out of nowhere.
